It does follow one of the characters of The Haunting Trilogy by the same author and it has some of the most remarkable character development that I have ever read in my entire life. It is captivating from the very get-go and you will not be able to put it down and it will give you an entirely new perspective on what evil really is and what is born from it. My favorite quote from this novella is:

"Fanaticism is the constant of human history; it is the true curse."
